Line Integration Coordination
Situation
Assigned to support a logistics flow for a new mirror zone, under the logistics manager's lead. At kickoff, the groundwork needed to get there, task sequencing, line balancing, zone implementation, and production zone implementation, was still missing, with departments working independently and no coordination across stakeholders.
Role
Facilitation, then coordination of the whole effort, proposed and given to her since no one had been assigned that role.
What was done
Mapped the gap between the current state and a functioning production zone and logistics mirror zone, had teams define what each piece needed, then had other departments report that work directly to her. Sequenced every step in the order it needed to happen, then brought the real state of the project to leadership and proposed taking over coordination herself, which was accepted on the spot.
Result
Reached a working production zone with reduced takt time, despite robot issues that forced some workstations offline and required engineering to run a root-cause analysis. The logistics mirror zone itself was set aside after the logistics manager left, with focus shifting to reaching an acceptable production state.
